RULES OF THE
TOURNAMENT
Equipment
The tournament will use a double nine domino
set. The game will be played by four people, in teams of two.
The
Deal
Each player draws ten dominos. The remaining
15 dominos are not used during the round.
The
Play
In the first round, the player holding the
highest double makes the first play of the first hand. If nobody holds a
double, players turn in their hands and it is redealt. This is very
unlikely, since there are ten doubles in the set and forty dominos in play.
After the first domino has been played, play
continues to the right (counter-clockwise) as in a block game, each player
adding a domino that matches one of the two open ends. If at such time a
player is unable to match either end that player must pass up turn.
In subsequent games, the winning team of the
previous round makes the first play and may play any domino.
Scoring
Once a player runs out of dominos, that team
will be declared the winner of that round. If
the game is locked up (no player has
a domino that matches) the round ends. The numbers of pips left on the
dominos of each player’s hand are counted. The team with the least amount of
pips is awarded the win for that round.
Match Play
The tournament will be played in best of
seven rounds. This will be considered a match. Team winning a match will
move on to play another wining team in bracket format play. Once a team
loses a match, they are eliminated from the tournament.
The Final’s match play will be best of ten,
with the eleventh round being the tiebreaker.
Third place winner will be determine by a
best of seven match play of the semi-finals losing teams.
